 Hello Everyone! It's an idea I've been throwing around lately where I place a couple of designs I've created over the last 5 years into the newsletter along the sides; they'll feature a picture of the design as well as a description and how you can purchase them. You could call it a bit of Birdman Retro wear! August means back-to-school shopping and I know your time and money are extremely precious commodities; especially these days with the way the economy is and how frantic most of our lives are. We're lucky if we can find an hour to cook a home cooked meal let alone go bargain hunting all over town for clothing and dorm room gear for our kids. The Egyptian god Thoth had many functions including being the god of scribes who were taught how to write the beautiful hieroglyphics that everyone's familiar with as well as being the god of the Moon & also numbers so it's no wonder that he was such an important figure in Egyptian religion and society in general. In fact, he was so important that many mummified ibises & baboons have been discovered in Egypt over the years when Egyptologists are uncovering tombs and other sites. Most people associate Thoth with the ibis bird even though many times he was also depicted in baboon form or a human with a baboon's head but if you're one of the many who are most familiar with him being seen as a human with an ibis head or an ibis then you're going to flip for this BRAND NEW Design that features a beautiful ibis standing in front of a sideways facing crescent moon with smoke radiating off of it and the ghostly image of Thoth in human form wielding a shield & sword in his hands! Due to the "wispy" smoke in this piece, I've named it "Thoth Wisp" & it's available in a huge selection of styles, colors and sizes to choose from, sure to fit almost everyone and sure to be a hit with anyone who loves Egyptian history!
It's been a few months since my last Egyptian painting but I finally had a new idea this past month to create one featuring the god Horus as well as Osiris and to incorporate the original cross- the Ankh into the painting. Horus & Osiris are two of the most important deities in all of ancient Egyptian culture & religion and you rarely see any of the Egyptian deities painted, drawn or sketched without holding an ankh in their hand. The ankh was the first true cross and in fact, it was the image the Christians later used when they created the Christian cross, minus the loop at the top so it was only natural to incorporate all three of these into a painting. This BRAND NEW painting shows the god Horus bringing a new beautiful ankh cross to life with a softly glowing aura around the ankh which permeates off of Horus himself! In the left corner you see part of the god Osiris as he keeps his mystique by not revealing his entire self in the painting. Horus & Osiris are painted in an open Egyptian temple filled with beautifully decorated pylons as well as hand-crafted jars filled with lovely papyrus flowers and in the distance you can see a lush green grass field before the harsher desert overtakes the background. The lighting & shadows I've painted in this piece add to the mysteriousness as well as the openness with which ancient Egyptian religion was practiced. In honor of the ankh as the centerpiece of the painting I've named this piece "The First Cross" which you can get as an 8 x 10 inch print as well as much larger sizes to suit your needs and decor. Naturally, you can also get this beautiful painting framed and matted to suit your taste and style so it's truly a one of a kind piece in your home that is sure to be a conversation piece whenever you have guests over and for you to enjoy!
Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love wolves and that nothing infuriates me more than when wolves are being needlessly killed through misguided prejudices that so many people still seem to have or by those morons, YES morons, who think it's "cool" to hunt wolves so I created this
On occasion I like to show off some attitude and in the same spirit I like to create a design that exudes "attitude" and this month's Blast from the Past exudes a lot of attitude while letting you ladies know everyone that you're one foxy mama! This month I went a little "Gothic" with my next BRAND NEW Iron Cross design. Even though I've loved things to do with vampires, werewolves and Gothic in general, I have rarely used these areas in any of my work. Not quite sure why but that's how it has been since I began painting, I rarely paint or design anything Gothic. This month though I decided to change that a bit with this awesome black & red iron cross that has a cool pair of matching red & black vampire bat like wings in the background! Naturally the name of this BRAND NEW design is "Vamp Cross" which will be a huge hit with anyone who's into vampires or just digs Gothic style in general. Vamp Cross comes in a ton of fantastic colors, styles & sizes sure to please even the most finicky of tastes & you can also get Vamp Cross on terrific drink ware, mouse pad, & cap!
This past month I've been working on a new Celtic painting and even though it's not finished yet, I decided to create a BRAND NEW Celtic knot design with a small part of it- it is a trinity triquetra knot with spiked knots trailing off the top and center two sections of the trinity in wonderful gold & maroon! Summertime also brings to mind beautiful butterflies fluttering around our yards; bringing smiles to kids faces that see them close up and I know a lot of guys don't want to admit they like these insects that come in so many colors, shapes and sizes because they think it's "unmanly" to like butterflies but I'm here to tell you that liking butterflies doesn't make you any less of a man (nor does it for admitting you like them hehe).
