Dragons have fascinated people for hundreds of years, perhaps even thousands of years. You hear stories about dragons from almost every society around the world; how they're born, how they live, what they do, etc. Well, in addition to trying to create them based on scientific knowledge as it pertains to what would be their closest relatives IF they did exist, the lizards & reptiles, I also like to just have fun with creating a dragon now and again. My newest dragon head is created completely out of fiery hot flames to create a menacing dragon head complete with massive horns atop the head and also small spikes protruding around the side of the head as well as along the jaw line. A dragon fancier of any age will be LOVING this design so be sure to pick up several as a great gift. I think with Independence Day this month this is a perfect time to take you back to a painting that was challenging to paint but very rewarding when it was completed. I speak of my painting I titled "Soaring High" which has a majestic bald eagle soaring high in the sky, looking over his vast terrain, free from all worries & just enjoying the moment for what it is! I got the idea for this BRAND NEW painting that I'm about to unveil from a friend of mine last month. She was talking to me about how she just put up a new birdhouse and already had a family of robins using it to have their family. This got me to thinking that in the 6 years I've been painting I hadn't painted a birdhouse before so I thought to myself "why not?" but I wanted to add a small whimsical element to this painting; When you check out the painting I invite you to see if you can spot what I mean & you're welcome to drop me a note letting me know what you think my idea of "whimsical" is in this particular piece! I call this painting "For Rent" and it features a beautiful blue birdhouse amidst a lush green bush to keep it safe from predators. This month I had a couple of great new ideas for bird designs and a couple of them are patriotic-themed!
I decided to design a couple of cool new eagle designs that will get you waving your flag, whether you're German or American! I created this bald eagle with the black,red & gold colors of the German flag along with a beautiful glass heart in the background complete with black,red & gold flames shooting off of it and the words "Ich Liebe Deutschland"- I love Germany written on it in an old world font! Let's be realistic, it seems that no matter what country you live in, politicians only care about the people during election time and after that it's right back to making sure their pocketbooks get as fat as possible while the rest of us live in squaler. That is what gave me inspiration for this fun penguin design I like to call "Penguin Revolution"! This design features a gentoo penguin that's fed up with the state of our world and has decided to make his own country, complete with a cool new flag in red & blue with a fish in the corner- a major staple for many penguin species diets and he's decided to create a Penguin Nation; are you with him?! Crows have held a spiritual significance for many thousands of years of human history & pre-history and this is also reflected in the Celtic history as well. In some societies they were associated with protecting the dead and being able to go between our realm and the spiritual realm, whatever that may be.
